Chrome plating is a superb process. It's a classic, timeless finish. Chrome elements can be found on many older cars, from bumpers and trim strips to interior trim and even under the hood.

Everything is fine as long as the chrome finish is in good condition. The biggest problem with chrome is that if not properly maintained, it begins to age, crack, and become pitted, making it very difficult to restore. And you can't just pretend it's not there. Poor-quality chrome plating is a nightmare for any modification project; if the finish is still pitted, blistered, or rusty, then no matter how beautiful the paint and wheels are, the entire car will look unkempt, like a half-finished product.

Traditionally, the only acceptable solution was to re-chrome the car at a chrome shop or, if possible, replace the parts. Any other option was considered shoddy work or even tasteless. But in recent years, the situation has changed dramatically: we've noticed a growing trend toward surface treatments other than chrome plating; these methods are widely used on everything from race cars to modified vehicles.
