EN-GJS 400-15 / 500-7 Ductile Iron Bars | Spheroidal Graphite Iron

Ductile Iron Bar is also known as Nodular Cast Iron Bar, Spheroidal Graphite Iron Bar, SG Iron Bar. It's a metal material with excellent mechanical properties and good processing performance, commonly used in mechanical parts.

    Product Introduction

EN-GJS 400-15 / 500-7 Ductile Iron Bars are high-performance cast iron products manufactured in compliance with European standards, specifically designed for applications requiring high strength, good ductility, and superior machinability. These bars are produced with a spheroidal graphite microstructure, which offers remarkable tensile properties and impact resistance, making them a versatile choice for structural and mechanical applications.

The EN-GJS series is particularly appreciated in Europe for offering a range of strength and elongation combinations. EN-GJS 400-15 is characterized by excellent ductility and toughness, whereas EN-GJS 500-7 provides higher strength while maintaining adequate flexibility. These ductile iron bars are suitable for components that undergo repetitive stress, vibration, or moderate impact. Their machinability makes them ideal for both roughing and precision finishing operations.

    Material & Standards:

    - ductile iron bars are manufactured in accordance with international standards. The commonly used steel grades of ductile iron bars are expressed in different ways according to different countries and standards.

The following are the commonly used ductile iron steel grades (grades) under several common standard systems:

    ASTM A536 EN 1563 ISO 1083 JIS G5502
    60-40-18 EN-GJS-400-15 GGG40 FCD400
    65-45-12 EN-GJS-450-10 - FCD450
    80-55-06   EN-GJS-500-7     GGG50 FCD500
    100-70-03 EN-GJS-600-3 GGG60 FCD600

    Product Description

Ductile iron bar is a material that improves its mechanical properties by adding spheroidizing agents such as magnesium or cerium to cast iron to form graphite into a spherical structure. In terms of chemical composition, the main components of ductile iron are iron, carbon, silicon, as well as manganese, phosphorus, sulfur and other elements. The addition of spheroidizing agents such as magnesium or cerium is key, which promotes the formation of a spherical structure in graphite.

    Product Features:

Manufactured according to the following European norms:
    - EN 1563:2018 (European standard for spheroidal graphite cast iron)
    - EN-GJS-400-15: High elongation grade
    - EN-GJS-500-7: Balanced strength and ductility

    Typical chemical composition includes:
    - Carbon: 3.5 – 3.8%
    - Silicon: 2.4 – 2.8%
    - Manganese: ≤ 0.4%
    - Magnesium: 0.035 – 0.06%
    - Optional alloying: Cu, Ni, Mo to improve wear resistance
